Will a Remanufactured/Refilled Toner Cartridge Damage Your Printer? – Is It Worth It?
If you’ve ever run out of ink (and who hasn’t?) you know that printer ink and toner cartridges can get very expensive, very fast. An option many folks take is to buy remanufactured or refilled cartridges to cut down on the cost of replacement. Some of these work magnificently, good as new. Others – not so much.
What are some useful hints, tips and advice to use when going for new ink? Are there any pitfalls to avoid royally messing up one’s printer with a badly assembled cartridge?
How to tell if you have a good remanufactured toner cartridge:
- No leaks should be on top of the list.
- Coming from a reputable printer or copier company – they are the ones that will fix the equipment if it fails.
- Made in the great USA.
- Buy local, not from the large chain stores.
Can I use generic toners in my copiers?
We do not recommend this toner, we service many different brands of copiers, and would love to save some money on the service contracts by providing our customers with a cheaper toner, but you guessed it, IT IS NOT WORTH IT! The cheap toner will generate more costs, the copy quality will deteriorate prematurely and other regular maintenance parts will fail early.
Remember – Just follow the list and you will have nothing to worry about at all! Of course the manufacturers are going to tell people otherwise, they are making an absolute killing on ink cartridges.
Just don’t go for the cheapest on ebay or amazon, there’s usually a reason they are that cheap and basically it’s you get what you pay for! These are most of the times made in China.
